Marbella – Costa Del Sol’s Luxury City

There are so many places to visit in Europe that we are literally spoilt for choice. One of the famous destinations of all is the city of Marbella Spain. Marbella is found on the Mediterranean Sea and in the region of Andalusia in southern Spain. Countless British holidaymakers make Marbella a firm favourite as a beach resort on the Costa del Sol. The busy tourist season in the south of Spain runs from April to August with numbers increasing greatly as the season gets under way. It can be said that the city of Marbella is currently the most cosmopolitan and famous tourist location on the Costa del Sol. Marbella’s current known population is approximately 101,144 inhabitants and it covers around 117.2 square kilometres and is 10 metres above sea level.

Some of the most famous things in Marbella include the Mediterranean marina Puerto Banus that is known all over the world for its luxury yacht mooring. I remember one particular year in the late eighties seeing one of the biggest yachts in the world and that belonged to the Saudi Arabian arms dealer and businessman Adnan Khashoggi. In terms of its cleanliness, safety and order, Marbella is a very well maintained city. It has beautiful boulevards, gardens and green parks. The landscape is quite stunning despite the city’s high population and this is because of the many high quality urban projects in terms of building design and space conservation.

Marbella weather is gorgeous with beautiful blue coloured skies. This is just one of Marbella’s attractive features and beckons tourists from all over the world throughout the year. The Mediterranean sea’s intense blue colour complements the colour of the sky along with the most perfect white sandy beaches.. A big draw for tourists who are keen to take a dip in the Mediterranean Sea is the temperature. On almost all of the beaches in Marbella you’ll find quaint little bars offering a great variety of food and beverages. The beaches also have the most up to date leisure activities, making it a place to come time and time again. A Marbella nightclub might be what you need to wind down and relax with a smooth cocktail after a long day visiting the city. Marbella apartments can be slightly cheaper than a hotel and there are many good rentals to be found in exclusive areas. Many tourists like the idea of apartments in Marbella as they are not tied down to the hotel’s rigid timetables etc.

Marbella is also known for its wonderful and lush green golf courses and is the head quarters of the world cup golf. The Andalusian city of Marbella is also home to the head quarters of nautical events and tennis tournaments. As well as being a tourist paradise, the city is also known as a golfer’s paradise, as one can play golf throughout the year on any one of the 70+ local Marbella golf courses. One of my favourites and one of the most well known is the Dama de Noche course, which is a flood lit golf course. It happens to be the first one in Europe and there are only nine others in the world! The area of Marbella is also home to numerous horse riding and tennis schools not to mention many gyms, sports centres and the Marbella country club.

Apart from its stunning beaches, Marbella has beautiful mountains, which are often referred to as a paradise for hikers. Marbella has many beautiful hotels that offer 5 star luxury service that ensures guests enjoy the best stay possible. Some hotels in Marbella are;  La Villa Marbella Charming Hotel, the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe and the Gran Hotel Guadalpin Marbella & Spa. All these outstanding hotels offer stunning views both inside and outside the hotels. There is also the possibility to rent luxury Marbella villas up in the mountains of Marbella. It’s no wonder that tourists want to prolong their stay when the time comes to depart from Marbella!

The city has so much to offer that a large number of tourists come back year after year. The city is also home to many famous celebrities including singers, songwriters, actors and wealthy owners of hugely successful companies. Anyone who’s anybody owns property in Marbella. This jewel of a city is also featured in countless international films, TV series and music videos. The Marbella Town Hall is always willing to help out tourists who require information about the city, activities, climate, accommodation, sports and local festivities. Once you’ve been to Marbella you might even consider it your piece of paradise!
